Besiktas is Becoming Popular
Besiktas is Becoming Popular The Besiktas neighborhood of Istanbul is an old and historic one, though it has not always been known as a popular place to live. That has changed in recent years with new stores and redeveloped homes, as well as new hotels that are drawing more visitors to the area. Many Europeans know the name of the neighborhood for its football club, but it is a former president of the club that helped to transform it into a trendy part of the city. Serdar Bilgili is a developer who purchased the Akaretler Row Houses and redeveloped them into upscale apartments, international boutiques and stylish cafes. In the middle of Besiktas are several new international hotels, including the W Hotel with a colorful style. The neighborhood borders the western, or European, side of the Bosphorous, which can provide some very nice views. The Four Season Bosphorous Hotel which just opened this past summer overlooks the water and has already become a popular wedding and meeting location. There are also many new stores and restaurants in the area to draw shoppers from near and far. With all of the new things going for it as well its location, Besiktas is a Turkish hotspot.
